Muse Comics & Games Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team Campaign

Welcome to the first Muse-run Kill Team Campaign! This event will follow a slightly modified version of the Kill Team Campaign rules found on pg. 202-207 in the Kill Team Rulebook. The Campaign will also run a total of 12 weeks from 10/22 – 01/14 split into 3 1-month segments. There will be prizes handed out at the end of each month, as well as participation prizes for everyone who plays in month 2 and 3!

Structure:

Each player will build a Campaign Command Roster with their chosen faction (Adeptus Astartes, Deathwatch, Grey Knights, Astra Militarum, Adeptus Mechanicus, Heretic Astartes, Death Guard, Thousand Sons, Asuryani, Drukhari, Harlequins, Necrons, Orks, T’au Empire, Tyranids, or Genestealer Cults), they will then play at least 1 game a week (2 maximum) with 2-4 players to earn a participation stamp and the corresponding week’s tactic card (there is one card for every week). Everyone will be provided with a campaign score card that will stay in the store to track your resources and participation.

All players will be added to a “Muse Kill Team Campaign” Facebook group to facilitate game scheduling, and communication from the staff. If you would prefer to not use FB we have a campaign poster hanging in the game area for players to post information.  It will be up to the players to collaborate to find times that work to play, as one day a week rarely works for everyone. If you are unable to find matchups, please speak to one of the Muse staff members.

Your placement in a Kill Team campaign will be decided by your team’s resources. Each player will start with 8 of each resource (Intel, Material, Morale, and Territory) with an additional D3 of each to all players who participated in our meet & greet night on Oct. 13th. If at any point during the campaign any of your resources drops to 0 you become a Guerilla Kill Team. This means that you can no longer score any resource points, but you can still play matches to knock other kill teams out of the running. Guerilla Kill Teams still earn participation prizes at the end of month 2 & 3. At the end of each month prizes will be given out for the players with the most combined resources in each faction. At the end of the campaign, the top three players with the most combined resources will earn their very own Kill Team medals!

At each game make sure you:

  1. Check in with a muse staff member for that week’s tactic card
  2. Accurately adjust your resource totals after each mission
  3. Apply experience, and after-action consequences
  4. Make sure you get a participation stamp on your campaign score card
  5. Check for participation awards at the end of each month

Rules:

All players should familiarize themselves with the Kill Team Campaign rules found on pg. 202-207. This will cover how to pick a mission, adjust resource totals, and add experience to your specialists or fire teams.

For each battle, players must build a 100pt kill team made up of models from their campaign command roster. Each kill team must adhere to the Battle-Forged rules found on page 62.

WE WILL BE MODIFYING THE FOLLOWING RULES:

Casualties: For the sake of fun and simplicity, we have decided to forgo the use of permanent casualties for this campaign. During your casualty roll (pg. 204) instead of dying on a roll of 1, that model will sit out for the next two games.

Campaign Command Roster: Players can ignore the 12 model starting limit; start with as many models in your roster as you think you need!

Adding Members to a Fire Team – As we will be ignoring casualties, there will be no need to follow any guidelines for adding members to your roster. Players will be allowed to add new members to their rosters at anytime to try new load outs and skills

Terrain with rules – any terrain rules that are not faction-specific must be shared with your opponent(s).

What should I bring?

Required:

Players in the campaign league should have access to a Kill Team core rulebook, dice, rulers/tape measures, models, a completed campaign command roster & data cards(link below, also in the back of the rulebook), and a campaign score card (this will be provided for you).

Suggested:

Action tokens – These are found packaged with Kill Teams and are useful at keeping track of various status effects and abilities. If you didn’t purchase one of the pre-packaged Kill Teams, there are many 3rd party sellers with acrylic tokens for sale. Additionally, there is an example of the tokens on pg. 5 of your rulebook.

Terrain – All Kill Teams come with various pieces of terrain that have extra rules you can use during your matches. Kill Team Kill zones also come packaged with extra rules for terrain you can use.  We will have some terrain available for all to use, but more terrain means more variety, and more cover!
